TIPS, TRICKS & TECHNIQUES
PARENTING, HOUSEHOLD, MONEY, SELF, RELATIONSHIPS, ANYTHING!
Starting Baby on Solids
When your baby starts on solids make a big batch of whichever vegetable and freeze it in ice cube trays. That way you can defrost whatever amount you need and also it is handy for those times that you don't have time and saves buying the pre-packaged stuff - posted by Jody A.
Labelling Storage Tubs
I stuck pictures on tubs to show which toys go in what tub. It really helps when the kids are helping to pack things away. They like to help and then they know where to find any particular toy that they NEED, right this minute without upending every box of toys in the house. - Posted by Jody A.
Transporting a sleeping baby from the car to the house
As many of us know, the car seems to be an ideal soothing tool for an unsettled baby. Getting the baby from the car to the house, and into bed without unsettling them however, is no mean feat! However, one clever mum gave me some advice! Take your childs dummy out before you take them out of the car, that way, when you put them into bed and they are a little unsettled, you have something to give them! This trick has worked for me many times over, even now my baby is a toddler! - Posted by Miss Kelz
Keeping The Toys In Order
Firstly, designate one room of the house for your childs toys. Buy a big toy box or toy bag, or even make one. Let your kids go crazy messing it up, and don’t panic about the toys being all over the room! Your children are learning, and growing, so let them be free with it!! At the end of the day, pack all the toys back up into your toy box or bag. It seems like a huge mess, but it literally takes seconds to bundle them all back into their place! Don’t worry about it being neatly placed in the box/bag, your kids don’t care, and they’re only going to trash it again tomorrow! - Posted by Miss Kelz
Easy shower & toilet cleaning
I keep a spray bottle (containing vinegar, water & dishwashing liquid) and a shower cloth hanging on the side of the shower, and every morning when I take a shower I simply do a quick spray and wipe. It takes about a minute and keeps the shower clean and fresh at all times. And when I get out I squeeze a bit of bleach or some kind of cleaning agent into the toilet bowl, give it a quick swish with the toilet brush right the way around and the toilet is clean too! These morning habits save me a lot of stress and time! - posted by Mumma Bear
“Drive-In” for family entertainment evenings
When you have small kids a trip to the movies cab be extremely difficult, (if not impossible) & very expensive. The drive in is a fantastic alternative! The kids can make as much noise as they want, even get out and go for a run – and they are not disturbing anybody else. And it is a lot cheaper too – and you can pack your own snacks and drinks! So much easier than the cinema, and more fun! - posted by Mumma Bear
